What are you doing to inspire leadership in your organization? With the next generation of nonprofit leaders taking the helm at organizations throughout the country, it is important to inspire leadership daily.
So how does one inspire leadership? As an organization, consider the following:
- Are there opportunities for young professionals to take leadership roles with programs, initiatives, and new opportunities?
- Does the organization hold conferences and meetings with all staff to promote and encourage input on the daily activities and overarching direction of the organization?
- Are there opportunities for staff to speak out and address challenges facing the organization?
- Does the organization allow staff to have input during the strategic planning process?
- Are there opportunities to attend professional development activities outside the organization?
- Do members of the staff have the opportunity to meet and engage in activities with the board?
These are just a few questions to ask yourself about inspiring leadership in your organization. If you answered no to any of the above, you may want to redefine what you consider leadership. The organization’s future depends on it.
